Twinkl Talks: EYFS

Twinkl Talks: EYFS, from educational publishing house Twinkl, has been releasing bimonthly episodes about a wide range of early years topics for almost two years.

Recent episodes have covered topics including the attainment gap, schemas and private vs. school-based settings. There have also been conversations with EYFS teachers about what it’s like to work in different countries like Australia, Mexico and South Africa.

The Private Early Years Chatroom Podcast

Another podcast from Twinkl, The Private Early Years Chatroom Podcast is hosted by preschool and nursery practitioners who work in private early years settings.

In addition to regularly answering ‘early years problems’ from listeners, they have recently shared their essential resources for working in early years and discussed topics like the 1:5 ratio for 2 year olds.

Talking Early Years with June O'Sullivan

June O’Sullivan MBE is Chief Executive of the London Early Years Foundation (LEYF), a charitable social enterprise operating nurseries in some of London’s most disadvantaged areas.

Her podcast, Talking Early Years with June O’Sullivan, dives into topics related to early years, social business and more. In the latest episode, June spoke to two LEYF managers who have gone the extra mile in tackling food poverty.

Early Excellence Podcast

The Early Excellence Podcast is a weekly podcast designed to give EYFS and KS1 educators interesting ideas and insights about early childhood education.

The podcast has been running for just over two years, with recent episodes looking at sand play, continuous provision and setting up your classroom for the new school year.

TTS Talking Early Years

TTS Talking Early Years, from school supplies and educational resources provider TTS, is currently releasing its third series. It's themed around inclusive practice, with episodes on ‘Improving educator understanding of neurodiversity’, ‘Challenging gender stereotypes’ and more.

The previous two series of the podcast focused on developing key skills through play and learning opportunities outdoors.

Circle Time – The Early Years Podcast

In Circle Time – The Early Years Podcast, early years practitioner Glenn Denny speaks to members of the early years sector about issues or topics they are passionate about.

In the latest episode, Glenn spoke to a guest about children's language and building parents' confidence to support language development. Other recent episodes have covered ‘slow pedagogy’ and brain development in early childhood.

The Early Years Staff Meeting

This year, three early years educators set up The Early Years Staff Meeting to explore ‘the magic and mayhem of the EYFS’.

So far they have discussed key topics such as settling children into nursery/school, setting up continuous provision and doing home visits – sharing tips and insights from their own experiences along the way.

The Voice of Early Childhood

The Voice of Early Childhood is a weekly podcast delivering thought-provoking discussions around early childhood.

Recent episodes have looked at PE in early years, spotting dyslexia early and the foundations of early writing. They have also examined the difference between reacting and responding to children's behaviour, and unpicked issues around the reception baseline assessment.
