Kidzrus shares some of the successful initiatives which have helped to develop positive and respectful relationships, including parents’ coffee bars, forest school lessons for parents, and support with funding applications for parents and carers of children with SEND.

Many EYFS providers are overwhelmed. Establishing and maintaining a positive and supportive workplace environment can be a challenge. This session will explore some of the key actionable steps that leaders and managers can take to address this challenge. Attendees will discover how to actively listen to their team through providing a safe space for open communication. Establishing clear goals and expectations for a culture that values innovation, growth and well-being for both staff and children, and why having clear roles and responsibilities, systems and processes and deliverable policies and procedures are essential to clarity and consistency.

Bright Horizons will present research on the positive impact of an environmental curriculum on children, families and the local community.

The early years sector is facing significant challenges such as recruitment and retention issues, a funding structure that does not enable settings to maintain high quality education and care and a pandemic that has had serious consequences on the well-being of staff, children, and their families. Coaching and supervision are mechanisms that could support the emotional labour (Hochschild, 1983) and well-being of early years practitioners. The workshop aims to explore how supervision can contain, support, and improve the ‘emotional labour’ and the ‘well-being’ of early childhood practitioners.
